Stress, by its definition, is a state of mental or emotional strain or tension resulting from adverse or very demanding circumstances. It is your body’s way of responding to any kind of demand. It can be caused by both good and bad experiences.
In the other words, anything that poses a challenge or a threat to your well-being is a stress.
There are different kinds of stress. If it is caused by physical danger but it has not reach to the level to threaten your physical health, it is good for you because it can give you more energy and strength.
Example, when you are afraid that someone or something may physically hurt you, your body will naturally responds with a burst of energy that will let you be able to survive the dangerous situation (fight) or escape it all together (flight).
However, if your stress is in response to something emotional and then it is not good for you, such as worry over your family or job etc.
Understanding your stress level is important. Like I mentioned, if nothing in your life causes you any stress or excitement, you may become bored or may not be living up to your potential. If everything in your life, or large portions of your life cause you stress, you may experience health or mental problems, which could make your life and behavior worse.
Whatever the situation you are in, the things that matter the most are the thoughts about the situations in which you find yourselves.
