We all know that workout is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle. It helps burn calories, reducing the risk of obesity and protecting the heart. Well, time flies, it is hard for me to remember when was my last time went to do exercise, maybe many years ago.
Speaking of exercising, for some people, gym is not a place to go, working out at the gym is boring and have no fun, but for some others, gym is an awesome place, by using different machine, they can enjoy different kinds of exercises, me, belong to the later group.
It is true that 5 daily prayer is a form of exercise, but needs to add bit more. One of the after Ramadan ‘To Do’ task that I assigned to myself this year is to go back to the gym and start my regular workout, to me, it is more about life-work-spiritual balance.
You may want to know why I go gym, why don’t go jogging in the park or working out at home? From benefit point of view, I found going to gym is the right thing to do, here are the reasons:
Healthy – It helps improve stamina and body flexibility, keep you at bay from lung and heart diseases.
Fitness Check – A fitness check at a gym can determine your current level of fitness and from this a safe and enjoyable set of exercises can be determined.
Greater Variety of Equipment – If you working out at home, most likely, you have only one piece of gym equipment, which can be expensive. But working out in a gym provides you access to treadmills, elliptical trainers, stationary bikes, a swimming pool, strength training machines and a variety of other types of equipment. For a small monthly fee, you can have access to many types of machines so that you can keep your workouts interesting.
Managed Exercise – In the gym, your exercise is managed in a way that is safe for you. You will get a regular weights and exercise review to check that you are progressing safely towards whatever goal you initially set yourself. If you want, you can also opt for working with a Personal Trainer who will be with you at all times during your sessions at the gym to encourage and motivate you through your planned exercise regime.
Safety – You may wondering what this ‘safety’ means? Alright, just imagine you go out on a jog on your own somewhere, maybe during the dark mornings or the nights, and you sprain an ankle or injure a knee but nobody around you, what will you do? But, if you are doing exercises in the gym, when there anything happen, people in there can help you.
I am sure there are many other benefits of working out at the gym, whatever, if you want to feel better, have more energy and perhaps even live longer, look no further than exercise. The health benefits of regular exercise and physical activity are hard to ignore.
